What happens when you don’t understand each other in the workplace? Sanne is a trainee process operator at a cheese factory. There, she works closely with colleagues from Friesland, who speak their own dialect among themselves. And that sometimes leads to awkward situations—especially in a workplace filled with machines, noise, and safety regulations.

Taalbuddy’s

Een mogelijke oplossing. Een taalbuddy. Iemand die nieuwe collega’s helpt tijdens de eerste werkdagen. Niet ingewikkeld of groot, maar gewoon even meelopen, uitleg geven, signalen toelichten en checken of iemand het begrijpt.

Fries op de werkvloer

Ook spreektaal speelt een rol in deze aflevering. Voor veel Friezen is Fries heel normaal op de werkvloer. Maar voor nieuwe collega’s kan dat soms lastig zijn, zeker in situatie waarin veiligheid belangrijk is.

De aflevering laat zien hoe belangrijk het is om bewust te zijn van taalgebruik. Want of je nu Nederlands, Fries, Engels of Pools spreekt: veiligheidsinformatie moet voor iedereen duidelijk zijn.
