Working in care means working with your head, heart and hands. You offer help to people who need it: the elderly, people with disabilities, the sick or patients undergoing rehabilitation. So your work is not only useful, but also rewarding. You really make a difference in someone else's life.
In addition, healthcare offers many benefits:
- Certainty:
Healthcare workers are in high demand. So the job opportunity is high.
- Variety:
No day is the same. You work people and every client is different.
- Advancement opportunities:
You can continue to develop yourself with education and training
What kind of work can you do in healthcare?
Healthcare is very broad. That means there are many different positions and workplaces. For example, you can work in a nursing home, home care, hospital or at an institution for people with disabilities.
Some examples of features are:
Helper care and welfare
You will support clients with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, eating and minor household tasks. You are an important contact person and you are there for people when they want to share their story.
Individual health caregiver (IG)
In addition to the duties of a helper, you also perform medical procedures, such as giving medication or tending to wounds.
Care aide or domestic help
You will help people in their own homes with housework and provide companionship.
Social care
You accompany people with mental health or intellectual disabilities and help them live independently.
What MBO courses can you take?
To work in healthcare, you can take various courses at the mbo level. Even if you do not currently have a diploma, there are opportunities. Think of:
- MBO Helping Care and Welfare (level 2)
- Mbo Nursing IG (level 3)
- MBO Social Care (level 3 or 4)
- Mbo nurse (level 4)
- Short trainings or courses:
Think first aid or a medication course. Springest has a handy list of different short courses.
Did you know that you can also take some courses on the job through a work-study program (BBL)? Then you work and learn at the same time. A good way to quickly gain experience while learning.
Use our fees
You don't have to pay for training yourself. Through Lone, there are reimbursements for temporary workers such as:
The Development Budget
With the Development Budget you can use up to €2,500 for a training, course or career guidance. For example, a first aid course or a short training to become an assistant. Together with a coach you will first discuss how you can best use your personal budget for your development.
The Opportunity Budget
Especially for professions with high job opportunities, such as health care, there is the Opportunity Vocation Budget. This is an allowance of up to €1,500 for retraining or further training for a high-potential profession, such as IG caregiver or care and welfare assistant.
The Kansberoepbudget is intended for temporary workers who want to retrain in a profession with high job opportunities. This includes the healthcare sector.
