Playfully test your knowledge about safety

Safety should always be number one in the workplace. This is the client's responsibility, but all of you must make sure that everyone can work safely and healthily.

Sometimes it's about the little things, but they can haunt you later. Like lifting too heavy. If you occasionally think, when lifting things that are too heavy; "I'll lift those! Then this can cause back pain, joint pain or other annoying ailments in the future. So safety is important even with small items.

Who is responsible for your safety?

Your client must make sure that all risks have been identified that could be a danger to your safety. Then the client makes sure that all associated safety measures are in place. For example, do dangerous machines have emergency stops? Is the proper protective equipment in place and being used? And is everyone clearly informed of all the rules? These are all kinds of examples of measures that your employer can put in place to ensure that everyone can work safely.

For example, an employer can use the Health and Safety Checklists, which list for each sector what risks are present in the workplace and what measures can be taken. As a temporary worker, you can also go through these. So that you know what is going on in your sector and what to expect in the workplace.

What can you yourself contribute to workplace safety

Still, sometimes mistakes can slip through the controls. People make mistakes and a small mistake can just cause you injury! Of course, we want to prevent this as much as possible. But what can you do yourself to make sure your workplace is safe?

Your client should make sure you are well informed. But you can also prepare yourself for unsafe situations. After all, prevention pays off. Temporary workers who are properly briefed and initiated are better able to oversee unsafe situations at work. This encourages safe behavior for your colleagues and helps reduce the risk of accidents.

How do you work safely?

Every time you start work at a new workplace, attention must be paid to your safety. The employment agency and your contact person at the workplace will educate you about this. Before you start work, ask yourself these questions:

• Do I know what the risks of my work are?
• Have I received adequate explanation of how to use machines or equipment?
• Do I need personal protective equipment and who do I get it from?
• Who will work me in and who can I contact with questions?
• Who are my colleagues and how do I not get in their way?
